If you want the best result you need to have a professionally directed planned giving program
A Catholic Bishop, the late Bishop Peter DeCampo of the Port Pirie Diocese in South Australia told me the story of a country Priest who was having some difficulty in overcoming objections from several parishioners about a planned giving program that was about to be held.
Bp Peter went to the aid of his Priest addressing a meeting of Parish Council. He asked a question about when the farmers sold their cattle. “When you decide to sell your cattle do you take them out into the lane and hope someone comes along and makes an offer”. “Of course you don’t you take them into town and get the best Stock and Station Agent to sell them for you to get the highest price.”
“Well that’s what we’re doing here we are using the best organisation to help us get the best possible result”. Bp Peter was a great communicator and by relating the program to the everyday life of parishioners in that parish was able to able to overcome the objections they had to the program.
